I’m very excited to have a piece in the 50 Squared Art Prize at Brunswick Street Gallery in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The exhibition features lots of smaller artworks with a maximum size of 50 × 50cm. The painting I have sent there is called “Ëxpel”, and it’s 30 × 30 cm on wooden panel. It a very gestural work I made over the summer. I was going to paint over the red and yellow marks but decided I actually liked it as is. There seemed to be nothing more to add. It felt complete. The show starts on the 20th June and the opening event is on the 26th June from 6-9pm. The exhibition runs through until the 3rd July.
